How should I dress my baby under the Love to Dream™ Swaddles?

Overheating has been linked to SIDS so it is very important to ensure your baby does not overheat. Our products hav been designed to eliminate multiple layers of wrapping. The table below provides you with guidelines around how to dress your baby based on the room temperature.

When should I stop swaddling my baby and transition?

Irrespective of which swaddling method you use, you must stop swaddling your baby as soon as he or she starts to show signs of being able to roll over independently. At this time, you must transition your baby out of swaddling into 'arms-free' sleeping.Your baby's arms should not be restricted when they are able to roll over - this advice is the same for any form of swaddling you may be using. Around this time, you baby's startle reflex should have diminished.The Swaddle Up™ Transition Bag/Suit is a great way to prepare your baby for the transition from being swaddled to 'arms-free' independent sleep.

The fit should be snug

A snug fit around the arms and torso helps calm the Moro/Startle Reflex. The neck hole should fit closely and comfortably without being restrictive (you should be able to get 1 to 2 fingers in the neck hole). The neck hole must not be able to pass up and over the baby's mouth. For the best fit, please select the size based on your child's weight, not their height or age.

We believe the simplest way to make sure your baby is suitably dressed is to dress for room temperature. At Love to Dream we use the industry-recognised measurement system, called TOG. TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and helps simplify the process of choosing the right garment/s for your baby. To best dress for different room temperatures and ensure you select the right Love to Dream product follow these two simple steps: 1. Prior to selecting a Love to Dream product we would recommend having a good understanding of the temperature of your baby’s room. 2. Always look for the ideal room temperature guidance on our products and website to help your selection.

What size Swaddle Up™ should I buy?

For best fit result please select your Swaddle Up™ sizing according to your child's weight not their age.The Swaddle Up™ range is available in four sizes: Newborn (Suitable for 5-8.5lbs), Small (Suitable for 8-13lbs), Medium (Suitable for 13-19lbs) & Large (Suitable for 19-25lbs).

How many Swaddle Up™ swaddles do I need?

We recommend that you purchase at least two Swaddle Up™ swaddles in the appropriate size. If you own two, then one can be in the wash while your baby is wearing the other one. It might even be helpful to consider having a third on hand to use in case of emergencies
