Transition Bags & Suits FAQs

Why Transition Bag/Suit?
As soon as a baby shows signs of rolling, parents must stop swaddling & transition their baby to 'arms-free' sleep. Our Transition Bag or Suit is the simplest solution to transition a baby from being swaddled to 'arms-free' - all while preserving their cherished sleep routine.
What's the easiest way to transition my baby?
If your baby has not shown signs of rolling yet, you can simply allow them to sleep in the Swaddle Up™ Transition Suit until they show signs of trying to roll. Once they show signs of trying to roll over, you must stop swaddling your baby and transition them. Start with one Arms Up wing and one self-soothing SLEEVE on (cuff folded over). After several nights of your baby settling into this routine, remove the Arms Up wing and start bedtime off with both self-soothing SLEEVES zipped on (cuffs folded over). Once your baby has settled into a routine, you can open the cuffs for true arms-free sleep. Some babies transition in a few nights, others can take a few weeks. The Swaddle Up™ Transition Suit with self-soothing SLEEVES is especially helpful for any baby who is having a harder time going from being swaddled to arms-free sleep.
What is a TOG?
We believe the simplest way to make sure your baby is suitably dressed is to dress for room temperature. At Love to Dream we use the industry-recognised measurement system, called TOG. TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and helps simplify the process of choosing the right garment/s for your baby. To best dress for different room temperatures and ensure you select the right Love to Dream product follow these two simple steps: 1. Prior to selecting a Love to Dream product we would recommend having a good understanding of the temperature of your baby’s room. 2. Always look for the ideal room temperature guidance on our products and website to help your selection.
What size Swaddle Up™ Transition Bag/Suit should I buy?
For best fit result please select your Swaddle Up™ sizing according to your child's weight not their age.The Swaddle Up™ Transition Bag/Suit range is available in three sizes:Medium (Suitable for 13-19lbs), Large (Suitable for 19-24lbs). and Extra Large (Suitable for 24-31lbs).
How many Swaddle Up™ Transition Bags/Suits should I buy?
We recommend that you purchase at least two in the appropriate size. If you own two, then one can be in the wash while your baby is wearing the other one. It might even be helpful to consider having a third on hand to use in case of emergencies.
How should I dress my baby under the Love to Dream™ Transition Bags/Suits?
Overheating has been linked to SIDS so it is very important to ensure your baby does not overheat. Our products hav been designed to eliminate multiple layers of wrapping. The table below provides you with guidelines around how to dress your baby based on the room temperature.

Transition Bags & Suits

The increased freedom in the transition bag and transition suit allows your little one to make their first independent movements as they settle themselves. This next step of your little one’s sleep journey is made even easier for parents and babies alike with our transition baby sleeping bags and baby sleepsuits. Designed to provide the snug, secure feeling of a swaddle, zip-off wings allow your baby to comfortably transition to arms-free sleep. Product suitability will depend on a baby's physiology and development. The care-giver must determine what is suitable.
